AAEOY Speaker Series with Mr. Mir Imran, Healthcare Innovator and Entrepreneur, Fellow of National Academy of Innovators and National Academy of Engineering
AAEOY (Asian American Engineer of the Year) is an annual recognition event hosted by CIE/USA on the national platform to honor the most distinguished Asian American professionals with their leadership, technical achievements and remarkable public services.
AAEOY was first introduced in 2002, with a total 304 awardees to date. The awardees have served as role models and sources of inspiration for the STEM community. Past awardees included Nobel Laureates, academic scholars, key corporate executives, and an astronaut!
During the Covid 19, AAEOY committee decided to invite past awardees and other distinguished industrial/business leaders to share their technical knowledge and experience and interact with the audience in the AAEOY Speaker Series.

Speaker: Mir Imran, Healthcare Innovator and Entrepreneur, Fellow of National Academy of Innovators and National Academy of Engineering
Mr. Imran started his career at Intec systems contributing to the first implantable cardioverter defibrillator, then moved on founding 20 startups with 15 successfully exited, winning numerous recognitions, and admitted into National Academy of Inventors and National Academy of Engineering! He’ll share how he achieved so much in his career and in business in the fireside chat. He can review objectively his personal career path from his present position of investor and executive, covering technical skills, management approaches, soft skills, integrity, pressure handling, etc.

Introduction of the Speaker Mr. Mir Imran
Mir Imran is a prolific healthcare innovator and entrepreneur who has been developing and commercializing breakthrough medical innovations for more than 40 years. As an entrepreneur, Mir has founded more than 20 life sciences companies and is holding more than 800 patents; 15 of his companies have seen "liquidity events" (IPO/ Acquisition). His recent exit, Rani Therapeutics Holdings Inc., focusing on oral delivery of biologics, went public on Nasdaq in July 2021, which was his fourth IPO. Mir is perhaps most well-known for his pioneering contributions to the first FDA-approved Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator. Mir has received a number of industry accolades for his work including being named one of the most inspiring people in life sciences (PharmaVoice) and one of the “Top 50 Medical Device Inventors of All Time” (QMed). Mir is also recognized as a fellow for both the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) and the National Academy of Engineering (NAE).
He holds an M.S. in bioengineering and a B.S. in electrical engineering from Rutgers. Mir also attended CMDNJ/Rutgers Medical School.
