Recently, there have been many new developments in the LED lighting industry. In this seminar, Dr. Huang will be
discussing many important LED factors such as electrical, thermal, optical characteristics, performance, reliability,
safety and cost. Moreover, he will discuss why and when LED lighting will hit the real, mainstream business.

Close to 200 attended this event on June 5th. The audience was very enthusiastic about this event and warmly requested
more in the future. Quite a lot of the attendance expressed the desire to join CIE as a member.
The Career Seminar was made up of 3 sessions. It started with a panel discussion on "Career Perspective and
Risk Management". The panel is made up of
Dr. Gerry Liu, SVP Marketing of Pericom,
Dr. Wen Wang, President of Multech Engineering Consultant and adjunct professor in SJSU,
Dr. Bernard Shung, co-founder and VP of SiBEAM, and
Dr. Lee Yang, Fellow of SMIC.
Several subjects were discussed, including: career decision making, the respective risk in large corporation/small
company/startup/consultant, impact to employees during M&A, and the most important mindset in 21st century.
The 2nd session had 5 experts on human resource, executive recruiter and career coaching sharing their views
on the job search skill, mindset, and how it is done from the employer's perspective. The audience responded

[ San Jose , CA. Feb. 20, 2010] The Chinese Institute of Engineers/USA San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (CIE/USA-SF)
held its 31st Annual Conference at San Jose Double Tree Hotel on Feb. 20, 2010. Marvell's new board member,
Dr. Ta-Lin Hsu (Chairman and Founder of H&Q Asia Pacific), was the keynote speaker in the conference dinner banquet,
and Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. was a "Platinum Sponsor" for this event. Dr. Hsu's speech topic was
"A Changing World: An Engineer's Perspective". As the world faces many uncertainties such as those in economic,
climate and energy, Dr. Hsu gave his insights about the changing world.
In the afternoon, there were three parallel tracks of seminars including "Emerging Technologies", "Business & Law",
and "Humanities". The afternoon seminars were organized in concert with the conference theme.
CIE/USA is a non-profit, non-political organization serving the local engineering community. Founded in 1917,
CIE/USA is one of the oldest and the most prestigious Chinese-American engineering associations in U.S.
It has 6 chapters in the U.S. including the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter. CIE/USA also co-hosts three biannual
engineering conferences in Taipei, Beijing, and Hong Kong .
The conference attracted hundreds of attendees including Cupertino City Mayor Kris Wang, Cupertino City Councilman
Barry Chang, many Marvell employees, local engineering societies, media reporters and a group of UC Berkeley students.
