[ San Jose , CA. Feb. 20, 2010] The Chinese Institute of Engineers/USA San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (CIE/USA-SF) held its 31st Annual Conference at San Jose Double Tree Hotel on Feb. 20, 2010. Marvell's new board member, Dr. Ta-Lin Hsu (Chairman and Founder of H&Q Asia Pacific), was the keynote speaker in the conference dinner banquet, and Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. was a "Platinum Sponsor" for this event. Dr. Hsu's speech topic was "A Changing World: An Engineer's Perspective". As the world faces many uncertainties such as those in economic, climate and energy, Dr. Hsu gave his insights about the changing world.
In the afternoon, there were three parallel tracks of seminars including "Emerging Technologies", "Business & Law", and "Humanities". The afternoon seminars were organized in concert with the conference theme.
CIE/USA is a non-profit, non-political organization serving the local engineering community. Founded in 1917, CIE/USA is one of the oldest and the most prestigious Chinese-American engineering associations in U.S. It has 6 chapters in the U.S. including the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter. CIE/USA also co-hosts three biannual engineering conferences in Taipei, Beijing, and Hong Kong .
The conference attracted hundreds of attendees including Cupertino City Mayor Kris Wang, Cupertino City Councilman Barry Chang, many Marvell employees, local engineering societies, media reporters and a group of UC Berkeley students.
